Telecommunications Drafter

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed aerial utility outside plant drawings for permit application and construction using AutoCAD from concept to final design in accordance with CSA and ESA standards.
• Include updates in existing drawing to conform to current design standards.
• Review projects for completeness before submission.
• Work with project Managers to set schedules.
• Work independently, organize own workload, complete work within budgeted hours.
• Participate in quality improvement programs for the company’s drawings and drawing process.

Requirements:

• 1 – 5+ years in a civil engineering environment with field experience is an asset.
• 1 – 5+ years in a related field of telecommunications is an asset.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Map 3D a must.
• Versed using Paper Space / Model Space.
• Able to read site drawings.
• Able to digitize plans and create PDFs.
• Experience in creating CAD drawings using Land base maps and ArcGIS maps is an asset.
• Experience in reading telecom network plans is an asset.
• Experience in creating AutoCAD script files is an asset.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with outside plant (OSP) design of utilities.
• Working knowledge of Aerial and Underground designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of CSA, ESA and Regulation 22.04.
• Experience within a telecommunication & LDC company or Engineering Consultant.
• Understanding on how to read plan and profile engineering and construction plans.
