Previews, analyzes and coordinates the installation, testing, repairing, maintenance and removals of outside plant facilities, riser and feeder facilities on customer premises. Monitors and inspects work performed by contractors. Performs related duties.
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Previews jobs, coordinates construction activities and monitors and inspects work performed by contractors. Analyzes plans, schematics and related drawings, revises and implements where required.
Organizes and coordinates releases with customers and others SaskTel departments for facility rearrangements. Terminates, grounds, splices and connects cables at access terminals, remote equipment sites, customer premises and dial offices. Attaches electronic components and associated hardware.
Investigates customer service reports by testing and locating problems. Repairs outside plant damages and troubles. Locates and stakes buried facilities as requested. Programs, installs and maintains cable pressurization systems and associated software. Responds to cable monitoring alarms.
Splices aerial, buried and underground feeder and distribution cables i.e. fibre optics, telephone and coaxial cables as well as as service wires.
Buries distribution cables using heavy equipment, coordinates with other utilities, restores work sites and customer premises upon completion.
Places, rearranges, maintains and removes telecommunication cables in underground duct formations and confined spaces using hydraulic equipment.
Operates polecat digger trucks and bucket/ladder trucks as required. Erects and removes poles, aerial cable, guy wires and associated hardware for aerial lines.
Arranges for and coordinates vehicle maintenance appointments. Maintains vehicle stock levels to ensure adequate supplies for daily work assignments.
Reports time spent, materials used, work completed, on completion of assignments.
Follows safe work practices and procedures. Takes reasonable care to protect personal health and safety and the health and safety of others in accordance with the Occupation Health and Safety Act.
(District Locations Only) Installs, maintains, and removes residential and business station equipment, wiring, and associated hardware for basic telephone, coin, and multiline key services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade XII with Level 30 Algebra or Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-calculus 30 AND Physics 30 OR completion of Basic Electricity, Electronics and Transmission.
Working knowledge of cable splicing and repair (single employee district locations only).
Ability to work independently.
Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
Must have a valid drivers license.
