Job Summary:
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
The incumbent provides senior level lead systems administration and configuration management support for data network hardware and software components for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC. The incumbent acts as a senior level technical consultant and as a lead technical contributor in data network systems analysis, integration, implementation, and maintenance projects.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
Qualifications:
- Candidate should possess strong networking skills, extensive experience with Cisco based network hardware. The incumbent requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. The experience includes standards-based Local Area Network (LAN) in a campus environment; networking components such as routers, switches, access servers, modems, and network management troubleshooting and monitoring tools and network protocols.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with both technical and non-technical users. Demonstrated engineering discipline, logical problem solving and attention to detail. Must be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances as deemed appropriate by senior management.
- Must have recent, relevant and verifiable experience configuring and supporting the following Data center and campus network hardware and technologies: infoblox DHCP and DNS grid system, Cisco Nexus 9Ks’ 6K’s and 5Ks, Cisco 6500, 9400 and 9500 platforms, and Blade Frames.
- Must have recent and relevant experience using the following network analytical tools: AKPIS, PRTG and Spectrum.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and be able to operate without supervision. Must have strong time management, multi-tasking, organization and administrative skills and must be highly proficient with Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be flexible and able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed to support planned and unplanned network maintenance and troubleshooting events. The successful candidate is expected to be available on-call 24×7.
- Cisco certifications are desired.
