Job Summary:

The Field Operations Project Specialist reports to the Field Operations Manager while working closely with the Special Projects Administrator for project assignments, progress reporting and meeting due dates. The Project Specialist travels to work sites throughout a designated region which may cover several states. The sites consist of MDU’s (multi-dwelling units), commercial and special project’s locations. The Specialist represents Metronet to the customer and over sees all phases of a given project. The Specialist establishes expectations, coordinates timelines, and over sees the timely completion of projects.


What you will be doing:

  • Establish meetings with property and commercial managers, owners, staff, and contractors.
  • Coordinating with other departments within Metronet on details of a given project.
  • Evaluates MDU, commercial and special project sites for wiring and deployment of Metronet services.
  • Communicates progress to the Special Projects Administrator and other Metronet departments and customers.
  • Insure contractors complete work in accordance with Metronet requirements and specifications.
  • Resolve issues and problems that may arise and act as liaison between the customer, Metronet and our contractors.
  • Work closely with Field Operations Management to understand customer needs, contractor requirements, time-lines due dates.
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with the Field Operations Management team.
  • Assist management in continuous process and standards improvement.
  • Produce quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Represent MetroNet professionally to the customers and contractors.
  • Respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers Metronet associates and contractors.
  • Be willing to travel over assigned geographic area of states as needed.
  • Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance according to company policies.
  • Adhere to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Field Operations Management team.


What You Need for This Position:

  • Strong understanding of installation practices and fiber handling.
  • 5 plus years working on MDU’s, commercial and special project consisting of direct customer interactions and oversight of contract workforce.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction and wiring Installation practices.
  • Ability to be organized and track multiple projects at various stages of completion.
  • Ability to talk to contract partners and customers and effectively communicate our needs and expectations while showing MetroNet is the type of company that can be trusted to live up to its agreements.
  • Ability to work with a computer to send and receive e-mail, develop, and update basic spreadsheets and Word documents and other data and software reporting platforms and project tracking.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and multiple tasks at the same time
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and auto insurance
  • Field Operations, Outside Plant construction, and related fiber optics experience is a plus
  • The incumbent must be self-sufficient and able to work on their own for extended periods of time with minimal management direction
