Your role
CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking an experienced Land Specialist to support the Transmission, Real Estate Transactions team, conducting investigation of our owned or leased sites. You will act as the lead in the investigation and resolution of land use issues, working nationally with internal and external business, engineering and operations partners; and coordinate logistics and administrative requirements in respect of land use. You will clarify ownership, confirm road access, examine easements and right of ways, and conduct title searches. You will review and summarize land surveys and engineering documents. Working with the team you may, on occasion, be required to prepare supporting documentation for the sale or acquisition of property.
Responsible for:
Conduct title searches and validate property ownership, ensuring CBC/Radio-Canada interests are protected
Complete necessary due diligence/investigation to avoid and resolve title issues on existing and new site service agreements. This includes right of ways, access road use, easements, land use permits, etc
Assist in the preparation of permit applications, site plan applications and other required land use approvals as required
Prepare site/land use map and aerial imagery, photographic documentation, and geo-spatial data for further analysis
Prepare necessary material, permit documentation, plan approvals, and draft presentations/written responses to municipalities, developers, etc. in respect of site use, as may be required
Liaise with client groups including landlords, legal counsel, planners, structural engineers, construction managers, governmental organizations and real estate agents for fact finding and gathering of resource data, as may be required internally for negotiation of agreements by team leads
Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable tenant and/or landowner agreements and assist team lead resolve day-to-day issues related to portfolio
Compile and as required do first line review of technical site related documentation, including site share applications, structural analysis, construction drawings, as-built documents and post inspection reports, etc
Perform activities related to property administration functions including follow up and coordination of landlord or tenant operational requirements, including validation of engineering as-built and post inspection documentation
Provide up to date information to Senior Management and team members, as required
Manage numerous projects at one time
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
The education. You have a college diploma or University degree in the area of land use planning, real estate law, real estate development, or a related field.
The experience. You have four to five years of experience negotiating and administering real estate contracts, You have experience in telecommunications or a related field. You are comfortable using database applications, and basic office software.
The interpersonal skills. You have strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively. Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset. You can work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results. You have a high attention to detail in the preparation, review and tracking of documentation.
The accountability. You have excellent judgment and proven decision-making ability. You can manage competing priorities, have strong time management skills, and are extremely organized, never losing sight of the details or the big picture.
