Telecommunications Administrator

Summary: *
The Telecommunications Administrator will oversee the installation, support, and maintenance of the organization’s telecommunications systems to include, but not limited to: VoIP, mobile device management, wired/wireless lines, Internet, and fax.

- Creates positive experiences for internal and external customers that will meet their expectations. (External customers include our patients, families, referral sources, vendors, the community, etc. Internal customers are the people within the agency with whom you work.) Displays a high degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the agency in all contact with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Assesses and supports telecommunications requirements for different departments in the organization.
- Oversees all telecommunications projects from request for information phase to post implementation support.
- Research business and technical specifications and requirements for proposed system modifications and technology purchases; obtains price quotes from vendors.
- Collaborates with customer support, sales and other client-facing teams, and system administrators and engineers to assess current and future telecommunications system and equipment needs.
- Performs or schedules maintenance for all communication systems.
- Prepares logs, reports, user guides, and other necessary documentation as needed to track and analyze use and costs of telecommunications equipment and systems.
- Develops, maintains, documents, and implements business continuity and disaster recovery plans for telecommunications networks.
- Provides or facilitates employee training on telephone and related communications systems.
- Periodically reviews system usage, service rates, maintenance costs, and equipment upgrades; makes recommendations for updates and improvements to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Maintains administrative and operations records.
- Develops, maintains, and orders inventory of telecommunications equipment.
- Assists with preparation of telecommunications budget.
- Performs wired and wireless line management
- Provisioning of mobile devices for end users
- Maintains mobile device management system.
- Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technology by attending professional meetings, workshops, and conferences; becoming a member of professional organizations; and completing continuing education course work.
- Performs testing to resolve issues as needed.
- Provides resolutions for all help desk issues related to telecommunications.
- Demonstrates an interest in personal and professional growth for self and staff: (a) attends and participates in workshops, seminars, webcasts to keep abreast of current changes in rules, regulations, relating to job functions and department; (b) does individual reading and research.
- Demonstrates a willingness to be cost effective in the use of agency resources, the monitoring of waste, and the proper and safe use of supplies and equipment.
- Adheres to 3HC’s Personnel Policy and performs other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems, Telecommunications, or related field required. High School Diploma with proven experience considered.
- At least four years of experience in telephone systems installation, maintenance, and operation required.
- Extensive knowledge of installation, maintenance, and support of business telecommunication systems and equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Prefer experience with IBM MaaS360.
Prefer experience with Manage Engine Service Desk Plus.
