Underground and Aerial Construction Project Manager

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the CSU, Inc. team. This position will provide leadership and direction to Underground/Aerial Crews as well as external customers. This position is essential to CSU, Inc., to all customers, vendors, clients, and the public visiting CSU Inc.’s premises and jobsites. The Project Manager will demonstrate teamwork, ability to both administer and follow complex directions, a working knowledge of both underground and aerial telecommunications construction, an understanding of excavation and aerial equipment operation, ability to read and interpret construction prints, and an ability to manage multiple construction crews and completion deadlines.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all duties as assigned to include but not limited to:

  • Ensures standards are maintained and deadlines are met for all assigned tasks
  • Completes all documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepares internal construction redlines (As-builts) and billing data for all jobs
  • Gather, review, and submit all required documents validating the project component compliance outlined in the project submittals for each project
  • Ensures through Project Coordinator that all Permits, Bonds, and Bid Bonds are ordered as needed for various projects
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and follow through to completion
  • Builds and maintains a positive relationship with customers and a reputation for on time and within budget job completion
  • Spends time in the field with crews reviewing job prior to and during construction
  • Prechecks locates, permits, and customer point of contact for each job site
  • Projects a calm and understanding demeanor when interfacing with the public and customers
  • Ensures that the work performed conforms to client requirements and all regulations
  • Adheres to all safety protocols
  • Maintains a commonsense approach to problem solving
  • Meets quality control expectations by following up on all details until the job is complete
  • Is phone accessible during working and nonworking hours
  • Ability to travel if job is not within an hour from the office/home
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to hear, understand, and respond to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the day.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, walk, stand, and climb.
  • Ability to reach and stretch.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Current, Valid Driver’s License required; CDL Class A with air brakes and tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Ability to operate and instruct personnel on equipment common to the telecom industry
  • Minimum of (1) or more years of outside Excavation and Aerial Industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with various handheld construction tools.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred
