Telecom – Installation And Repair Technician

Qualifications

Previous Telecommunications Experience (Copper and/or fiber)

Must possess a valid driver’s license

Must pass drug screening and background check

Must possess a vehicle capable of transporting a

28 foot extension ladder (Will pay mileage)

Approved applicants must submit to a Drug Test,

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot and repair POTS and DSL service,

working in drops, aerial, buried and underground cables, and associated inside

wiring

Make attachments to poles, buildings, etc., as required,

using hand tools, following work orders

Job Summary

Install, troubleshoot and repair POTS and DSL service,

working in drops, aerial, buried and underground cables, and associated inside

wiring. Make attachments to poles, buildings, etc., as required, using hand

tools, following work orders. Test and inspect to ensure that all POTS and DSL

services function properly before completing work order.

General Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Read and interpret information provided by the service

order, such as name, address of customer, and type of activities to be performed, using appropriate tools, and equipment.

Install, rearrange, change, repair and remove drops, cables, and associated wiring. Install private lines and DSL, and verify trouble-free

service. The nature of this work is a variety of tasks with only general guidelines as to instructions, practices, and/or procedures in performing the work.

Observe all safety rules and regulations to perform each job safely. Handle and climb ladders and poles, crawl under dwellings, work in attics, and other areas to repair or replace faulty equipment or wiring, using a variety of hand tools. Work with customers to evaluate and suggest how to improve service.

Perform maintenance of twisted copper and/or fiber-optic cable.
