As a branch level Rental Technician, you will program and tune communication equipment via Motorola and other manufacturer proprietary software and applications. Hands-on in office training will be provided to the rental technician to all parts of our fleet. The Rental Technician supports the branch assisting with the fulfilment of radio rental orders by building code plugs, configuring/programming radios and systems, cleaning, organizing, storing, delivering, installing, picking up, and testing of radio and associated accessories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consult with and take rental orders from clients.
- Coordinate equipment needs and plan delivery schedules to fulfill tower rental orders.
- Responsible for tower maintenance
- Provide top-notch customer service to all BearCom customers. Much of the customer service includes basic equipment application troubleshooting and dealing with invoicing issues after the rental sale.
- Light marketing of BearCom rental services to local events and venues.
- Planning and installing equipment for customer’s rental needs.
- Computer programming of rental equipment.
- Cleaning and making minor repairs to all rental equipment
- Computer data entry and invoicing of rental orders.
- Travelling to customer sites to deliver equipment
- Exceptional administrative skills, with the ability to quote and efficiently invoice customers (JD Edwards software experience a definite asset)
- Strong communication and people skills
- Valid Class 5 drivers license
- Must be available to be on call for long periods of time.
- This person will be on call the majority of the calendar year (for now)
- Work overtime (Evening and Weekends are very common occurrence)
- Experience driving 1ton tucks with trailers in all weather conditions
- Mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated
- Strong teamwork skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have high school diploma or GED.
- Must have clean driving record and provide abstract.
- Must be technically adept and an able to learn on the job.
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Experience driving 1-ton trucks
- Experience driving with a trailer
- Must have proficient level computer skills.
- Having experience in RF is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with cellular and point to point is an asset
- Must have ability to troubleshoot and diagnose assigned equipment problems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions.) Second language is a plus.
- Must be comfortable to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- The work environment could be in a shop, office, event/stadium venues, and petrochemical. The employee may be frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Exposure to high pressure, chemicals, and shop traffic is a possibility. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
- Must have a valid drivers license and proof of vehicle insurance.
