Job Detail

The Senior Accountant is the latest opportunity to join our growing team at Encepta.

The Senior Account is a senior level role focused on areas such reporting, compliance, and day to day business accounting functions. Team members in this role are expected to be efficient and work independently to complete tasks on consistent monthly, quarterly and fiscal deadlines. This team member will support the Director, Finance with accounting, reports, financial practices and regulations and be able to work independently as needed. The day to day operations of this role can be done entirely from an office or a hybrid/remote setting.

Some of the responsibilities include:

– Streamline the financial reporting process and produce reports in a timely manner;
– Responsible for the monthly close process;
– Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances;
– Maintain and reconcile fixed assets, prepaid, unveiled revenue, and accrued liabilities schedules;
– Prepare and complete accurate monthly and annual financial statements and reports for management staff, external auditors, and financial institutions;
– Respond to and resolve inquiries and issues related to financial reporting;
– Assist with providing financial accounting analysis and support for operational transactions and budget and forecast activities;
– Oversee and responsible for bi-weekly payroll system entries;
– Work with ERP support company and lead development of reporting;
– Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company compliance policies;
– Ensure company is meeting all government reporting obligations and tax compliance;
– Work with external accountant and auditors for year-end audit and similar activities;
– Be available to assist with all areas of full cycle accounting process which will include: bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cheque issuing, bank reconciliation, credit card payment, and financial statements preparation.
– Maintain project accruals and with project managers to improve project profitability reporting;
– Teach other team members of Encepta processes and procedures;
– Research and develop new processes and technology;
– Uphold and promote adherence to Training, Operating and Health & Safety Procedures;
– Travel be required for on-site meetings and training;
– Other duties as required.

You bring:

Minimum 5 or more years of accounting experience;
– CPA designation considered a strong asset;
– Experience working with Acumatica, Quickbooks and similar accounting software considered an asset;
– Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Sheets, Google Drive) or equivalent Microsoft apps;
– Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think things through to arrive at a solution independently;
– Ability to work efficiently on time sensitive projects with changing deliverables and priorities;
– Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details and quality assurance;
– Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who is comfortable in a cross-functional, diverse team environment.
