Position Title: DC Technician
Department: AC / DC Operations
Reports To: Technical Director
Gestion Imm-Tech is a company founded in 1996 that specializes in building management, building mechanics and installation of DC equipment. The company is expanding rapidly in its various divisions.
The DC Technician is responsible of the following functions and responsibilities.
General Summary
The DC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems based on existing norms and requirements. The DC Technician must be able to read technical diagrams, program controllers, use diagnostic tools, and make decisions under pressure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Planning, installation, testing and commissioning of new DC energy workshops based on norms, requirements and standards while respecting laws and regulations.
2. Intervention / repair on DC systems in service, must have the qualifications to ensure the safety of the load, site, personnel nearby and himself.
3. Addition of DC capacity in an existing workshop (addition of distribution panels, fuses, load connection etc.).
4. Maintenance of DC energy systems, diagnosis and development of solutions and procedures.
5. Maintenance of DC battery banks and replacement of cells when required.
6. Connection to telemetry systems for monitoring, capacity monitoring or diagnostics for various telecom manufacturers (Argus, Lucent, Aztek etc.)
7. Obtaining required authorization, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
8. Monitoring performance of installed DC equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
9. Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and testing equipment using appropriate tools.
10. Leading, guiding, and/or training other DC Technicians in applicable procedures and techniques.
11. Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
12. Reading and understanding technical diagrams, may be required to participate in the updating of technical diagrams.
13. Updating project records and preparing relevant documents for clients.
14. Liaising with clients, vendors, and other DC Technicians.
15. Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- College diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience as an DC Technician including: General knowledge of DC Power equipment and components commonly used in the telecommunications field: batteries, rectifiers, shunt, connections, fuse, wiring hardware, distribution panels, specialized tools etc.
- A thorough understanding of industry standard installation practices and policies for plant equipment and power, including Telcordia standards and Canadian telecommunications service providers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with power tools and other equipment used in construction.
- Physical strength and stamina.
- Firm grasp of health and safety codes.
- Good teaching and coaching skills
- Demonstrate professionalism and autonomy.
- Requires good dexterity and high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Team-oriented.
Physical Demands Required:
· Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
· Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of job.
· Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $55,680.00-$85,720.00 per year
