TELECOMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Mobile County Public Schools


The duties include but are not limited to:

    Assists the Executive Manager of Technology in developing organizational strategy and streamlining processes to improve efficiency.
    Provides solutions for issues pertaining to audio visual needs, IP phones, security systems as well as vision for direction and growth of these projects.
    Provides guidance, mentoring, and supervision to Telecommunications Specialist and Telecommunications Technicians.
    Works with the Executive Manager of Technology and other senior district staff members to increase efficiency and guide Information Technology Goals.
    Conducts research on emerging web technologies and recommends technologies that will increase effectiveness and usage of technology inside and outside the classroom.
    Manages and/or provides guidance to other members of the application development team.
    Manages the implementation of collaboration rooms and enhanced media centers.
    Manages the implementation of IP Telephone System throughout the district.
    Works with the Executive Manager of Technology to develop new strategies for parent and teacher notifications using the IP Telephone System.
    Works with the Executive Manager of Technology and the Division of Communication to utilize the full potential of the IP Telephone System as it is used for intercom and administration notification.
    Works with vendors to ensure most up to date equipment and software is being utilized at MCPSS.
    Works on long term projects and adjusts as necessary to overcome obstacles and reach project goals.
    Other duties as assigned by the Executive Manager of Information Technology.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a B.S. Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field or at least five (5) years of experience in information technology or a related field. A B.S. Degree is preferred.

Must have experience with technical support and communications.

Must have excellent communications and customer service skills.

Must be self motivated and a team player.

Must have knowledge of principles and practices of personal computers, telecommunications, and information technology.

Must have a working knowledge of IP Telephone Systems.

Must have the ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of a support staff.

Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing.

Beginning pay – $68, 896.00.

**Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
