JOB INFO

As the PLT Apprentice you are expected to be engaged in our safety program, executing work in a safe manner, in adherence with CANA policies and all applicable code regulations and the Act.

This position entails physically demanding motions and tasks

The work requires commuting to different sites in and around the Calgary area

With projects across Western Canada, travel and shift work may be required

CANA Energy operates year-round and outdoors in all types of terrain and environments

The work is in electrical construction, maintenance, repair and testing of energized and de-energized distribution and transmission systems

May be on underground or overhead facilities

YOU WILL

Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, conductors, lighting arrestors. Switches, transformers street lighting and other associated equipment

Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks, underground splicing and terminate of transformers

Underground installations:
Switchgears, cables, testing methods, protective grounding, automation components and working in evacuations, manholes and vaults

Overhead installations:
Protective groundings, switching, aerial buckets and hydraulic equipment, climbing poles with belts and spurs and tension stringing devices

YOU WILL NEED

Must be an indentured apprentice registered with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training board, or another provincial equivalent.

Knowledge of the construction and maintenance of overheard and underground cable installations.

Valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator’s License.

Reliable transportation to commute to various job sites

A successful Pre-Employment Assessment that includes screening for Drug & Alcohol and the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly

NICE TO HAVE

Class 3 or 1 license

Equipment and RBD operating experience

Experience in rubber glove live work and underground splicing and terminating
