WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are currently recruiting for the position of Telecommunications Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and performing the technical duties associated with the MRL communications systems and equipment.

PAY RATE: $38/hr

LOCATION: Laurel, MT

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday day shift. Call every third weekend.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Safety conscious and committed to safe work habits that will contribute to the achievement of company safety goals. Must exemplify MRL core values of Fairness, Integrity, Respect, Safety and Trust.
• Performs installs, diagnostics and repairs of telecommunication equipment, microwave site equipment, mobile and portable radios, train yard remote control systems, and video camera systems
• Position will be expected to be on-call, per the IBEW union agreement

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Commitment to working safely with ability to observe and promote safe work habits
• Associates degree in Electronics Technology preferred
• FCC radio telephone operator’s license preferred
• Self-motivated individual who is able to work with no supervision
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and procedures
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Organization and time management skills
• Ability to relate well with supervisors and peers
• Knowledge of railroad traffic control systems beneficial
• Valid driver’s license
