Position Description:
A Telecommunications Systems Engineer (TSE) designs, plans and implement telecommunication systems such as audio video conferencing system, video surveillance system, public address system, voice over internet protocol telephone (VoIP), telecommunication site infrastructure and support system.
A TSE conducts engineering studies to determine if existing systems and equipment can be modified or expanded to meet present and future telecommunications needs of the County Departments or if a new telecommunications system is required.
A TSE develops cost estimates and designs based on general customer requirements and goal.
TSE will inspect constructions and installation of telecommunications equipment to ensure contractors conformance with the design plans and specifications.
He prepares physical layout plans for telecommunication systems, site infrastructure and support systems and coordinate the installation of the required equipment.
Skills Required:
Good communication skills, wonderful customer service, and can always be counted on to complete assignments.
Experience Required:
This classification requires 4 years fulltime engineering experience in the planning and design of telecommunications systems.
Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited college with specialization in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field. One additional year of the required telecommunication engineering experience maybe substituted for each year of college. A valid California Class C license.
Additional Information:
Candidate will have to travel to LA County facility as needed for a meeting, verify the scope of work of a project, check any system issues, and do a site walk needed for the planning and design of a project. This travel is about 25 percent of his workload.
