The Senior Sales Executive for UnitedHealthcare is responsible for building broker/consultant relationships driving new business sales. The principal focus is to drive growth of complex prospects with an emphasis of self-insured medical sales and indirect responsibility for the retention of existing accounts in need of a higher level of strategy and partnership.

If you are located in the Mid-Atlantic, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • New Business Sales:
    • Identify and validate healthcare prospects
    • Build a strategy to approach each market
    • Develop a strategy to connect with each target preproposal
    • Accountable for prospect from presale to implementation
    • Produce sales resulting in profitability
    • Lead cross functional team to achieve positive sales results. Identifies opportunities for ancillary/Enterprise products on all new sales
  • Relationship building:
    • Develop and maintain strong broker/consultant relationships
    • Develop and maintain solid relations with decision makers of the target prospects
    • Develop and maintain key internal relationships
    • Understand customer and broker/consultant needs and provide value-added consultation
    • Identify & develop opportunities for brand awareness through sponsorships, community events, networking events
    • Present a positive image of UnitedHealth Group in the marketplace
    • Community involvement through professional organizations, associations and local organizations
    • Mentor sales executives, strategic account execs and account management staff where appropriate
    • Maintain current knowledge of all UnitedHealth Care products, services, and underwriting practices and principles
    • Effectively communicate UnitedHealth Group/UnitedHealth Care strategies and mission to the marketplace

Required Qualifications:

  • Sales insurance license must be maintained as required by state law
  • 5+ years of experience managing new business sales in the insurance industry
  • Experience building and maintaining positive, constructive working relationships with senior level executives both internally and externally
  • Proven track record of obtaining and exceeding sales goals
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.
