PENDING RECLASSIFICATION TO AN OPERATING SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER II
DESCRIPTION
This position is a Network Analyst position that will act as a technical systems administrator for the DCF network support unit.
It is responsible for administration and support of the systems, network, and video systems located throughout the State of Florida.
This position will have primary responsibility for supporting all systems defined by DCF as mission critical. Support and maintain telecommunications systems utilized by the agency.
Additional enterprise support includes router and switch configuration, firewall administration, user provisioning in assigned systems, and technical support as needed to support DCF’s mission
This position will be eligible for on-call responsibilities. Salary Range: 45,000 – 55,000.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Administration and support of systems, including Cisco ethernet switches, Cisco wireless access points, Microsoft Windows devices, and other network systems.
- Use of command line tools and resources to administer systems, for example terminal emulation like Putty.
- Project planning related to maintenance and lifecycle management of network devices and systems
- Support and maintenance of enterprise telecommunication systems
- Providing support and diagnostic troubleshooting of systems in use at DCF ranging from desktop computers to server systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or support, two years of which must have been in systems support.
or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and 2 years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or support, two years of which must have been in systems support.
or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems; and/or 2 years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or support, two years of which must have been in systems support and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
Experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required computer systems analysis and/or computer programming experience.
EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Microsoft Windows 10, wired and wireless technologies
Knowledge of Network technologies, TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, fiber optics
Knowledge of Systems Administration techniques and practices
Knowledge of network troubleshooting techniques, network analysis and problem solving
Ability to operate, troubleshoot and support operating systems and network devices
Ability to support, maintain, and administer infrastructure solutions
Ability to interpret technical information relating to systems, network, telephony hardware, video hardware and offer solutions and coordinate design sessions
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments across the agency, with vendors and external stakeholders
Ability to communicate technical information clearly, concisely, to many audiences including non-technical parties
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

SPECIAL NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants with training, certification, and experience in Networking, voice, and video systems. Must have strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work proactively in a high stress environment.
