| Primary Purpose of Position | Performs technical communications work in support of public safety operations. Receives emergent and non emergent calls, monitors alarms, obtains and relays information, prioritizes calls/alarms and coordinates response procedures, dispatches appropriate public safety personnel, and maintains public safety communications logs and databases. |
| Minimum Education/Experience | Minimum Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma and sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to work under pressure. University Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency and one year experience as a public safety telecommunicator. |

| Necessary Licenses or Certifications | Certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator or the ability to achieve certification within 45 days of employment. Some positions may require Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment. |
