Position Summary:
The Technician is responsible for providing installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of PBX, Centrex, outside plant, voice, data, xDSL, IP, FiON and audio/video equipment on business and residential customer premises or within the Bell MTS network.

NOTE: Employees requesting a lateral move (other than moves into, out of, and within northern region), will be required to assume their own relocation expenses. A minimum commitment of 3 years northern service will be required of any applicant to northern region postings before the applicant will be considered for a lateral transfer out of the region.

Qualifications Required:
Post-secondary education in Communication Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or Electronic Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PBX Installation and Repair experience with any of the following products: Avaya Aura(RED) or IP Office; Meridian Option 11, 51, 61, 81 or CS1000; Norstar/BCM Series; Mitel 200 or 3300; Panasonic TDA30, TDE100, TDE200 TDE600, NCP 500, NS700, or NS1000; Cisco Communications Manager, Centrex or Hosted IP Telephony

Experience interfacing with business customers, other service technicians, technical support personnel, other technical professionals, and have the communications skills to explain PBX equipment features and functionality in a professional, diplomatic, and logical manner in person and over the phone

Experience with installation/troubleshooting of any of the following: LAN/WANs, PC/Macs, servers, routers, IP Centrex, PBX’s or Unified Communications Systems, in a voice, data, or converged environment

Current experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of copper and FiON based network telecommunications equipment

Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of the various areas within the BellMTS business unit.

Ability to prioritize and plan workload received from BellMTS controllers, and Customer Contacts, to meet service requirements

Experience and/or knowledge in Test Equipment & Testing Principles (OTDR, Light source & Power meter, EXFO MAXTESTER, 3M DYNATEL 2273 Cable Locator)

Meet the physical requirements of the position including pole climbing, lifting, carrying, climbing and working aloft

Willing to work in confined areas and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Willing to complete and maintain various security clearances to meet customer business requirements

Ability to work shifts, weekends, statutory holidays and take part in standby rotations

Possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license and be willing to travel throughout the province if required

Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, with willingness to work independently in remote locations for extended periods of time
