Overview:

The OSP Engineer performs detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks that include estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, and budget tracking estimates against actual costs for copper and fiber cables, poles, and direct buried and conduit systems. This position is responsible for preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings, and reports; preparing loop loss design for load and repeater electronics, planning and designing field mounted switch serving areas, perform pole, conduit, and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry OSP design standards and economic feasibility studies.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one on one coaching / mentoring to engineers to ensure consistency with engineering job standards, procedures, and processes.
• Act as single point of contact with clients for engineering quality and concerns.
• Job budget development and tracking.
• Maintain a spreadsheet of very detailed engineering and drafting standards for each client.
• Work with formulas for rating the quality of work of in house engineers as well as off premises contract engineers.
• Work hand in hand with management to track the progress of work and prioritize and allocate resources.
• Periodic job inspections and quality control.

Qualifications:

• Experience in engineering/construction fields.
• Highly organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to keep and maintain a budget in the field.
• Expert level OSP Field Engineering knowledge.
• Experience in the full life cycle of both Fiber and Copper builds.
• Proven ability to train and mentor others in the field of Telecommunications.
• Expert level OSP Field Engineering knowledge.
