Fiber Optic Technician

3C Information Solutions Inc. is looking for an experienced field technicians with specialty in fiber optics. This position is not restricted to only fiber work, and is perfect for someone looking to expand their skillset in telecommunications. Ability and willingness to learn, or knowledge of, skills in wireless technologies, microwave, cabling, tower construction, etc. are deciding factors in the selection process.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR FIBER OPTICS:

• Running fiber optic cables, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
• Conducting regular inspections, locating and repairing defects
• Keeping work sites organized and properly labeled
• Maintaining documentation of completed work
• Adhering to all safety measures, including field assessment, toolbox meetings, PPE, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of fiber optics experience and asset
• Previous experience in telecommunications is a strong asset
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Ability to travel in and outside of the province
• Ability to pass A&D test on short notice
• Positive attitude, ability to work with others, and willingness to learn

ADDITIONAL SKILLS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION:

• Testing, maintenance, repair and servicing of various types of radio equipment
• Knowledge of IP networks
• Experience with wireless communication systems
• Previous cabling experience (cat5, cat6, coax)
• Tower climbing/rigging experience
• Mechanical aptitude
