Telecommunications Technician (Clearance)

Description:

TEKsystems is searching for a Secret cleared Telecommunications Technician to provide Inside Cable Plant support to various agencies at Fort

Belvoir. Typical work will be related to cabling (running, terminating, testing (fluke testers), cat 5/6, coax, fiber, punch downs). Must be comfortable enough to work on ladders (ceiling workspaces) when necessary. There will be plenty of on the job training. Individuals will eventually drive a

company vehicle while on base so they must have a valid driver’s with limited violations (e.g. no DUIs) on their driving record. Highly preferred for an individual to

already possess a secret clearance. Can be very long term as we’ve had consultants onsite for over 10+ years.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Tying a ½ inch cable, 568a standard Color code, terminating, punchdowns, and reading a blueprint/cut sheet.

Cable – Color codes and their order, Cat 5/6, fiber, coax. Running, terminating, testing

Closets – working in them, patch panels, dressing cables.

Connectors – types of connectors (fiber terminations) you have used and steps taken to put them on.

Telephony – Disconnecting analog in preparation for VoIP conversion
