Drafter

Overview

HMI Technical Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of HMI Services Inc., provides customer solutions through feasibility studies, design and/or engineering services, turnkey EPC delivery, surveys, constructability reviews, consulting studies and design-build services.

The CAD Operator will be responsible for supporting engineering plan design and drafting needs to deploy large scale Utility infrastructure projects.

This position will report to the Engineering Manager or Lead Project Manager in Blue Bell, PA.

Essential Job Functions

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers.
• Check survey information is complete and ready for design.
• Operate Autodesk AutoCAD with a high level of competency.
• Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Import field data from GIS based systems into AutoCAD.
• Uses theoretical and practical engineering knowledge when preparing engineering drawings.
• Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvements.
• Perform basic engineering calculations.

Qualifications

• Associates degree with 1 year industry experience, or 5 years industry experience specializing in telecommunications and/or power systems.
• Valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record for the past 5 years.

Other Skills/Abilities

• Overall understanding of telecommunications, OSP and/or power design engineering preferred.
• Familiarity and experience with telecommunications and/or electrical standards including National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and Blue Book standards preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2016 and above, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook required.
• Experience in ArcGIS or equivalent software is a plus.
• Experience reading and comprehending construction plans.
• Experience preparing construction sketches.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Minimal travel will be required for this position.
