Salary: $27.97 Hourly – Full state employee benefits package which includes 11 paid holidays, sick leave, compensatory time for work in excess of a 40 hour week, and PERSI retirement, plus options for medical/dental insurance, wellness program, 401k, deferred compensation program, and pre-tax flexible spending accounts for qualifying childcare and medical expenses. SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: The Idaho Office of the Attorney General is an equal opportunity employer. This position is exempt from state classified service, and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. This is an at-will position.
The Crime Analyst will be assigned to the Attorney General’s Special Investigation Unit but assists other investigative and prosecutorial units within the OAG as needed.
Duties include: Supporting ongoing investigations; performing statistical analysis to identify, analyze and report trends, patterns and/or new developments related to crime in Idaho; performing research; preparing statistical reports and analysis of OAG activities including requests for service, crimes, investigations, ongoing cases and related incidents; maintaining records and evidence in OAG records management and evidence tracking systems; assisting in performing criminal background checks; assisting OAG investigative units in research for special operations; preparing courtroom exhibits; assisting prosecutors with presentation of evidence at trial; courtroom testimony with respect to investigations and chain of custody issues; preparing and disseminating intelligence and safety bulletins; operating a motor vehicle; other duties as assigned.
This position requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving and analytical skills and knowledge of law enforcement operations and procedures including chain of custody requirements, the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with investigators, prosecutors, elected and appointed officials, other State employees, other organizations, and the general public. The successful applicant must have the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, always maintain a professional demeanor, communicate effectively, and comply with applicable rules, policies and regulations.
A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s or associate degree in criminal justice or related field is preferred. Experience of at least one year in law enforcement is highly preferred. Experience with ILETS/NCIC is preferred. Applicants must have an Idaho state driver’s license and successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check.
