  • JOB OVERVIEW:

    This position is responsible for supervising the Enterprise Operations Team and core Data Center to ensure 24X7 day-to-day operations. This includes all functions of computer operations, job streams, job management/routing, system security, systems software, hardware and communications monitoring and data center personnel and training. Ensure timely end user expectations are met and/or exceeded. Work toward and assist in the achievement of individual, team and department, and corporate goals.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supervise the Operations team to maintain smooth and efficient operations of Henry Schein systems.
    • Oversee Data Center issues and when necessary, assist getting 2nd and 3rd level support to help solve them.
    • Participate in the development and help create and ensure adherence to all defined standards for policies, procedures, naming, documentation, and security within the Data Center.
    • Evaluate current procedures and provide input to implement more effective support processes for all facets of Operations including the appropriate change control procedures.
    • Participate in maintaining outside vendor contracts necessary for the Data Center.
    • Help to provide continual improvements on operational performances, system monitoring, quality procedures and organizational efficiency by ensuring tools and processes. Conduct research on products and services and make recommendations.
    • Participate and help manage the collecting and submitting various auditing requests such as Sarbanes Oxley.
    • Enable team members by empowering and providing an atmosphere of transparency.
    • Coordinate with effective partners and Business Units for planned and unplanned data center productivity interruptions and testing. Participate in the disaster recovery test plan.
    • Participate in special projects, the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team, and perform other duties as required.
    • Ensure through direct involvement or delegation that each team member is adhering to the standards and best practices outlined for the organization.
    • Ensure the correct and timely execution of projects.
    SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
    • Experience with: AS/400 systems, peripherals, including OS/400, AS/400 security, journaling, backup systems, advance system performance.
    • Knowledge and experience with Internet and network related technologies, such as TCPIP, Ethernet, DNS, AD, and FTP.
    • Experience with multi-platform software monitoring tools.
    • Good presentation, oral, and written communications skills are also required
    • Strong people skills emphasizing written and verbal communication skills
    • Project estimation, planning, and deployment skills
    • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively
    • Good organization, leadership/decision making and communication skills.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Typically 5 or more years of increasingly responsible related experience; 3 or more years of management experience
    PREFERRED EDUCATION:
    Typically a Bachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master’s degree or global equivalent a plus.
    TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
