Looking to initiating a procurement for 2 (two) Project Managers. (Terms and details below.) Currently, the work will be remote due to COVID-19 restrictions, however, Client reserves the right to request on site work in the future at 395 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10014. The target start date is September 19th. We anticipate a 12+ month engagement. Awards will be based on best value.
Background:
The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) support the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY’s 24 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications; identifies and implements new technologies that advance the University’s core mission; builds, upgrades and maintains the University’s network; operated the University’s Data Center and help desk; identifies and implements disaster recovery and business continuity plans; and leads the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Project, which integrates 25 university systems, covering student administration, financial management, and human resources.
Reporting to the Program Manager within Project Management Office. The project that these managers will be working on is the transition of 20 CUNY colleges from their on-premise Exchange email to M365 on the cloud. If time allows the IT Project Manager may assist with a wide range of IT Projects including the full lifecycle of systems and development initiatives through the application of project management tools and methodologies. The incumbent will work with College CIOs, IT Directors and other functional managers to initiate and drive projects and reach consensus on project scope and deliverables, documented in in the project charter. S/he will manage the project schedule, scope, issues, risks, resources, vendors assigned to projects, and serve as a business analyst
Project Manager – Essential Duties:
- Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Co-leads the M365 Email transition and if time allows lead any of a wide range of projects including application development, software and hardware deployment or decommissioning, and implementations of off-the-shelf and custom software.
- Conducts business analysis of data and/or assist the college IT teams with their data clean up and analysis.
- Documents business requirements and/or technical solutions and designs.
- Identifies and implements ongoing use of project plans including baseline targets and forecasted tasks.
- Executes projects in accordance with agreed schedule, budget, and scope.
- Timely reports on variances to the approved project baseline and serves as the liaison for problem resolution and escalation.
- Schedules, directs, and documents project team meetings.
- Identifies, tracks, and champions close of project issues, risks, and change requests.
- Communicates with project stakeholders including sponsors, steering committees, user community and team members.
- Manages project-related coordination of testing and training activities, quality assurance reviews, and obtaining change management approvals.
- Identifies and implements milestone charts, dashboards and project team reports for senior management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible full-time paid information systems technology project management experience, telecommunications, data base administration or a closely related area.
2. Education at an accredited College or University may be substituted for the general information systems technology experience at the rate of one year of college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 4 years of college for 2 years of experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge and proficiency in system development life cycle (SDLC) methods and processes.
- Technical knowledge and background in diverse areas that include academic support, PeopleSoft ERP, identity management, email, M365 and Azure, voice and data networking and security.
- Knowledge of third party tools, e.g. BitTitan and Quest, for mailbox content copying.
- Ability to champion ideas and solutions, multitask under tight deadlines, and work in an environment with competing priorities.
- Ability to work with, articulate the needs and possess strong interpersonal skills to build exceptional rapport with university stakeholders including unit staff, subject matter experts, technical staff, administrators, faculty and students.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office tools, including Project, Word, Excel, Power Query Excel or similar data analysis tool, Visio, and PowerPoint..
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to facilitate group discussions and communications.
- Experience working in a university environment.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80.00 – $85.00 per hour
