Fibre Optice Splicer

The Fibre Optic Tech plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fibre services along with additional services to customers. Skilled in fibre optic splicing with an understanding in engineering and splicing drawings. This position will have project management skills, ability to work independently, knowledge of construction practices for outside plant cable placement, sufficient experience with computers and have a background in fiber optic splicing documentation practices. The position requires telecommunications experience and the ability to travel all over Ontario.

REQUIREMENTS:

Splice and test various types of fibre optic cable

Troubleshoots system problems for various customers

Able to read system maps

Can operate all types of splicing and testing equipment

Will document all required information as the work happens

Will perform all other duties as required by the departmental manager

Qualifications:

Must be able to carry and also climb a twenty-eight-foot extension ladder weighing 80 pounds

Must be well organized and be able to work well individually and as part of a team

Will work at heights near hydro and within confined spaces

Will set up and safely on high traffic roads according to book 7 standards

Will work in all weather conditions, day, night weekends with possible overnight stays.

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Experience:
