Job Detail

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Lead, keep happy, and advance a diverse team of infrastructure engineers in multiple time zones

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational management and disaster recovery of the technology platforms

  • Gather KPIs and ensure service levels and operational data across all internally and externally provided technologies that are part of the Cox Edge platform

  • Continually educate yourself, your team, and your leadership on edge and cloud technologies

  • Lead technical evaluations to understand the product, pricing, and potential use cases and then present results and recommendations

  • Select, purchase, provision, and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure across nationwide datacenters

  • Manage hardware implementations into various datacenter processes

  • Maintain accurate inventory and license management

  • Assist in developing business, financial, marketing, and operational plans and materials

  • Foster and manage cross-team relationships within Cox Edge as well as the larger Cox family

  • Foster and manage vendor and boundary partner relationships for professional services, software, and hardware providers

  • Understand and contribute towards enterprise architecture roadmaps and promote solutions that make progress towards that vision

  • Create solution architecture diagrams and other design artifacts representing the approach and effect of new proposed solutions

  • Translate product and/or customer requirements into specific systems, applications, or process designs for complex solutions and enabling platforms

  • Ensure compliance with all security, FCC, and Cox standards

  • Travel generally on-demand due to site visits, conferences, or training; expected up to 5%

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in a management role

  • 5+ years’ experience working across one or more relevant industries (i.e., cloud, telecommunications, media, or management information systems)

  • 7+ years’ experience in full development life cycle with significant experience in delivering applications and solutions in a production environment

  • Very strong technical understanding and know-how across a broad set of technologies

  • Individual should have strong leadership, communication, and relationship skills

  • Easily interact, relate, and communicate with a wide assortment of roles, titles, and personality types

  • Work with minimal supervision

  • Positive, solution finding, self-starting, and can-do attitude

  • Ability to listen carefully, ask questions, and translate guidance to effective action

  • Experience with cloud, Software as a Service, data center/infrastructure management, and network technology

Preferred

  • Experience with CI/CD, IaC, web application technologies, cloud design, software architecture, and general development

  • Deep knowledge of public and private clouds with emphasis on cloud, edge, IoT, and data and analytics technologies

  • Start-up experience and mindset
