Business Development Manager
As part of an international and matrix organization, you report to the Head of Sales in Northern Europe and you support him with the development of sales activities in UK and Ireland, with a special focus on our new growth initiatives and SaaS solutions:
- EV Charging Optimizer (Fleet Management)
- Demand Flexibility/ Grid management solutions
You are responsible for identifying new leads and business opportunities with prospective customers or existing accounts at executive level, including mainly Municipalities, Utilities and EV charging operators.
You investigate the market and then define and execute the business development strategy for your region with the support of cross-functional teams including technical experts, Bidding Team, Product Management and Marketing, Legal, and Finance. Extensive travel is expected throughout UK and Ireland.
You demonstrate a capacity to investigate new markets and launch business activities from scratch, to build trustful and long-term relationships with customers and complex ecosystem of partners in the Energy sector in UK.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of our company innovative SaaS solutions, supported by diverse Devices (from Itron or Partner portfolio).
- Think out of the box and find creative ways to promote the company and to penetrate the new growing market and segment.
- Perform incisive and insightful market and competitive research to develop existing business and new high-level client relationships.
- Act as the customers’ trusted advisor and develop a long-term customer relationship at executive and government official level.
- Understand client needs and tailor solutions through a consultative approach.
- Identify, recruit, evaluate technical & business partners to address new markets.
- Prepare bids for clients working in a multi-disciplinary team, follow the execution of the projects and take care of the post-project business evolution.
- Participate at tradeshows and events related to Smart Cities to increase our visibility.
- Generate leads and grow existing relationships, maintaining an accurate, detailed opportunity list, and develop an active customer base along our long sales cycles.
- Utilize Salesforce CRM tool to ensure standard processes during all sales stages.
- Develop and keep alive a pipeline of opportunities to build long term forecast.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Degree in Engineering (Electronics / IT / Telecom), and/or in Business Administration, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a business development role, selling complex solutions including Hardware, Software and Services in UK market (SaaS, IaaS).
- Good knowledge related to smart grid, electricity generation and distribution, EV chargers and/or low-voltage power.
- Coming from the energy industry or any industry proposing complex solutions to enable companies, utilities, municipalities, and governments to improve their daily and long-term performances.
- Passion for sales, ability to generate new leads, build long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders including C-levels, respond to tenders and close deals.
- Tenacity, outstanding ability to convince others and to maintain effective business network.
- Excellent team-spirit and communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Fluent English skills are mandatory.
