NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AUTHORITY
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Telecommunications/Electronics Assistant Manager works under the direction of the Telecommunications/Electronics Manager or his/her designee, fulfilling the responsibilities of planning, systems design, project management, contract design and review, engineering and maintenance technical support and staff training as it pertains to electronic and/or telecommunications systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, designs, manages, directs and/or participates in the construction of electronic systems projects utilizing Authority staff from various departments and divisions.
2. Prepares professional service documents, negotiates with and recommends for hire, manages consultants for design, construction supervision contracts and supervises their efforts from initial concept to final acceptance of contract documents.
3. Plans and develops scope of work and cost estimates for departmental capital budget projects.
4. Prepares all necessary documentation in relation to plans, specifications, cost estimates, purchase requisitions, bidder qualifications and reports and manages construction contracts and projects from initial planning and design to final acceptance and implementation.
5. Reviews contract documents prepared by consultants and Authority staff and provides technical consultation services as requested.
6. Acts as the Authority’s representative as directed in dealings with consultants, contractors, vendors, government agencies and others regarding telecommunications/electronic projects, as directed.
7. Prepares and supervises the preparation of text and graphical documentation and the training of Authority staff in the operation and maintenance of electronic equipment and support software applications relative to the incumbents’ scope of work.
8. Where appropriate, directs, supervises and evaluates the performance of subordinates if assigned to him/her.
9. At the direction of the Project Manager acts for the Project Manager in his/her absence and performs administrative duties related to his/her work as requested.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with all employees of the Authority. Represents the Authority in a positive, professional, and confidential manner in dealings with external agencies, contractors, and all other individuals. Maintains professional demeanor even in high stress emergency and weather situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university. Credit given for equivalent experience.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ professional electrical engineering experience in the design and/or construction of electronic systems projects, including at least two (2) years in responsible charge of engineering projects.
- Computer literacy; IBM PC compatible experience in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $73,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
