Qualifications
GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $89,834) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties including developing assessment criteria for surveys, programs, and processes; utilizing software to organize, analyze, and present data; researching and analyzing data, policies, procedures, or other operations that require evaluation; conducting reviews of highly technical or foundational documents such as policies, procedures, federal laws, or regulations; and providing technical guidance or recommendations.
GS13: You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $106,823) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: providing sound direction and advice to senior-level managers regarding the formulation and implementation of human capital initiatives; administering and managing human capital programming; assessing program effectiveness and compliance; conducting human capital research and recommending program enhancements; planning, organizing, and executing the development of human resources goals and objectives; performing data entry and analysis using an applicable computer software program (e.g., Excel, Access, or SPSS); and writing technical reports.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
