Position Summary
This position is responsible for installation, monitor and maintenance of existing and new telecommunications hardware and software. Focuses on improving the efficiency of voice networking systems for the Cooperative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze the needs of the organization and end-users and designs voice communication solutions, which may include ACD, PBX, or VoIP systems.
- Monitor performance of voice communications networks and systems and identifies and resolves capacity or accessibility issues.
- Research new technologies and determines their value to the organization.
- Coordinate new installations or upgrades to existing hardware and software infrastructures.
- Work with vendors to obtain competitive pricing and technical specifications for available hardware, software and services.
- Support the SCADA multiple address radio microwave system and provide transport for the systems over the microwave system
- Provide technical guidance and development to other Telecommunications staff members
- Consult with users, administrators and engineers to identify business and technical requirements for proposed system modifications or technology purchases
- Document procedures for hardware and software installation and use
- Document technical specifications and operating standards for telecommunications equipment
- Document user support activity, such as system problems, correction actions, resolution status and completed equipment installations
- Implement controls to provide security for operating systems, software and data
- Maintain the security of confidential information
- Stay abreast of advances in technology
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
- Skilled in time management
- Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
- Skilled in operating power tools
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
- Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems
Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensing)
- Four years work related experience
- Bachelors degree preferred
