Overview:

As a Senior Network Specialist, you will work within the Advanced Technical Support (ATS) Team and will be focused on providing level two and level three technical support on the TDS network.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

This position can be hired at either a Network Specialist, Network Specialist I, Network Specialist II or Senior Network Specialist depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Different job postings exist for each of these positions. Please reference each job posting for the minimum qualifications required for each role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 2 & Level 3 support of TDS’ Voice Network including TDM trunking, SIP Trunking, customer level and network level translations, SS7, AIN, SIP, MGCP, T.38, H.248, GR303, TR08, PRI, BRI, Media Gateways, Session Border Controllers, Transport and Access systems, and all associated provisioning and configuration.
  • Provide mentoring and informal training to peers as well as Level I technical teams
  • Provide consultative support for internal planning and engineering teams

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree –OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 6+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

Other Qualifications
  • Strong IP routing experience (Cisco)
  • Proven track record working with leading unified communication systems like Metaswitch
  • Strong Network Translations experience
  • Strong in VoIP Architectures and Protocols and practical application
  • Very good knowledge of protocol and packet analysis
  • Programming experience using Perl, Python, PHP, SQL, etc
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to organize and prioritize work based on both network and business drivers

  • Broadband and narrowband access technologies including (but not limited to) POTS, xDSL, T1, DS3, PRI, BRI, WiFi, WiMAX, PON, OCX.
  • Transport technologies including (but not limited to) SONET, ATM, Ethernet, POS, DWDM, WDM.
  • Voice Switching technologies including Legacy TDM and Softswitch technologies.
  • Power Concepts associated with AC and DC power equipment and HVAC implementations in both cabinet and building applications.
  • Customer premises equipment including (but not limited to) Routers, PBX, Handsets, set-top boxes, home wiring concepts
