Your role

Sales Manager, responsible for developing our presence in the DACH and EE region as well as maintaining existing accounts / Partners. Deliver against stated Sales objectives, bookings and revenue targets. The account manager will drive Ciena awareness and preference within the region.

A solutions driven sales professional for Ciena products and services. The person in this position works closely with the regional sales leaders to grow and develop named accounts. Strong account strategy, customer relationship development skills and large system sales background experience is required. High self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle many competing priorities within customer accounts is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the local and regional teams in developing, planning and executing on sales strategies to meet and exceed business targets
  • Drive and build relationships at all levels within the named accounts.
  • Drive a total engagement encompassing Sell-To, Sell Through, and Sell With business approaches Build and drive a virtual team to deliver on customer and Ciena business objectives
  • Identify and develop customer sales opportunities for existing customer base
  • Work with extended CIENA team, including executive team, product marketing, product line management, and sales operations to achieve sales and revenue objectives.
  • Responding to inquiries and requests from Ciena’s channels and partners
  • Ability to identify customers business objectives and leverage them to drive buying criteria
  • Working knowledge of the competitive landscape and the regional business market
  • Overall responsibility for the sales and fulfillment process associated with the regional activities
  • Develop and maintain Business plans and Business reports including monthly forecast, weekly commit and pipeline.
  • Responsible for weekly updates and forecasting business activity
  • Performs other duties as requested/assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to engage and work all levels of a customer organisation
  • Ability to engage at CxO level in a customer organisation
  • Proven experience in developing, negotiating and closing complex solutions-based sales with end-users.
  • Demonstrated ability to build customer intimacy
  • Extensive experience in Sales, business development and sales management
  • Solid understanding of managed services and Tier 1-3 Service Provider service creation lifecycle.
  • Strong experience in business and account management selling skills in large complex sales environments and accounts
  • Demonstrated management capability, technical expertise, strong customer and staff relationships, sales strategy, delivery of results and improvements
  • Ability to build and drive a virtual team across multiple countries and regions
  • Strong understanding/skills in optical and data networking required.
  • Excellent analytical, collaborative, communications and presentation skills required.
  • Utilization of database system for required forecast reporting
  • Self-motivated, with exceptional discipline to work independently in order to assure success
  • Highly motivated, ability to handle many competing priorities within multiple accounts
  • Strong knowledge of the EMEA market

Education And Experience

  • Reputable degree (Technical or Business)
  • DACH Tier 1 and 2 experience required. EE experience secondary.
  • A minimum of 10 years previous regional account management essential
  • Strong understanding of markets, including market segmentation, OTT/GCN and service providers, particularly wireless carriers
  • Strong understanding of regional carrier sales and ability to think strategically about new business opportunities. Ability to make sound – and tough – judgments
  • Background in Telecom and the content provider industries
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Keen awareness of market intelligence with respect to competitors
  • Budgetary assessment and planning to include forecasting at monthly and quarterly periods.
  • High pressure short timescale mentality that still maintains a balanced and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Complex Sales methodology discipline with particular adherence to Pier and Tier relationship management.
  • Strong German and English skills essential
  • Highly motivated, strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle many competing priorities
