Telecom / Generator Deployment contractors provide support to telecom and utility companies in the immediate aftermath of devastating events including hurricanes, tornadoes, severe winter storms, floods, forest fires, and power outages. Contractors will be responsible for deploying and refueling company-provided portable generators for regional storms and power outages and will work with some of the biggest names in the power and telecommunication industries. This a great opportunity for individuals who are retired, self-employed or even an existing business that wishes to increase its revenue by utilizing equipment or trucks it already owns. We even have individuals that do this just for extra income. You’re not on a schedule and you choose when you’re available to work. The work could entail daily generator deployments or refuels in your local area or large-scale operations that involve deploying to a devastated area and working until commercial power is restored. Deployments for Large scale events can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Telecom Requirements:

  • Understand this is an on-call position and we respond whenever power goes out.
  • Calls may come at all hours, and you may have to leave with short notice
  • Must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check
  • Have computer literacy skills and follow verbal instructions
  • Own a smartphone and be comfortable utilizing it for work
  • Work safely with electrical equipment and be able to utilize a multi-meter
  • Be competent to transport and connect a generator to a temporary power interface with color coded cam-lock fittings
  • Have basic PPE: hard hat, safety vest and safety boots with reinforced toe
  • Have basic electrical tools and meet additional tool requirements.

Telecom Truck Requirements:

  • 3/4 ton (2500 or F250) or larger truck that is equipped with an electric brake controller
  • 4X4 is recommended although not required. However, when working winter storms or deploying in mountain regions, 4×4 is required.
  • Class V trailer hitch with 12,000# Pull and 1,850# Tongue rating with 1-7/8”, 2”, and 2-5/16” balls
  • 100-gallon diesel transfer tank with metering device when doing refuels

Compensation Details:

  • When Contractors are deployed for a major event, they typically work 10-16 hours a day and can earn $2,500-$4,000 a week.
  • All contractors are paid an hourly rate and typically work 10-16 hours a day.
  • Some equipment may qualify to be billed when used and is paid out to the owner for each day of use.
  • If deployed for a major event, drive time will be paid to and from the event and lodging is provided.
  • All meals and fuel expenses (to the event, during an event and leaving event) if not provided, are reimbursed. If it is not paid in the field, we bill and pay out reimbursements when the event is over.
  • If meals are not provided, a per diem is paid out.
  • Contractors are paid within 30 days of the completion of an event. This is a general maximum time, you can get paid earlier depending on the contract.
  • All positions treated and operate as independent (1099) contractors

Pay: $350.00 – $600.00 per day
