About the Opportunity:

Cartel’s Engineering department is responsible for the engineering design and development of communications systems solutions to meet the customer’s requirements, needs, and objectives. To support the company’s growth, we are seeking a Junior Engineer to join our team in Langley, British Columbia.

The Junior Engineer/Engineer-in-Training will perform various activities within a team context to deliver a high-quality design that aligns with Cartel’s Quality Management System and satisfies the customer expectations.

The individual will benefit from the support of industry professionals and experienced engineers and will be put in a position to gain experience in the design of various communications systems, including but not limited to wireless communication systems, radio systems, fibre-optic networks, and telephony.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in communications systems design work in various industries, including Rail Transit, Public Safety, and Healthcare
  • Prepare engineering documentation, including design documents, interface specifications, drawings, test plans and reports, and technical manuals
  • Coordinate with other engineering team members to provide support in the form of document reviews, test witnessing, and troubleshooting
  • Perform Quality Control as it pertains to engineering work products, including:
  • Ensuring quality processes are followed, and customer technical requirements are fulfilled
  • Edit and format quality issues within technical documentation
  • Execute and maintain document control best practices
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by defining and improving engineering processes and workflows

Key Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, specializing in telecommunications systems and/or network;
  • Excellent technical English language writing skills, with ability to help others in technical documentation preparation;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills;
  • Strong ability in MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio);
  • Able to assist cross functional team with interpreting feedback and writing, updating, and delivering concise design documentation; and
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail and process.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in the one of the following areas: wireless communications technologies, radio systems, telephony.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
