Position summary
T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Senior Engineers, Systems Design located in Bothell, WA will design, validate, and deploy technical solutions to maintain, enhance, and evolve the T-Mobile data protection Infrastructure and Systems.
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for development and maintenance of designs for the network, applications, data centers, connectivity, validation plans, monitoring systems, reporting systems, and engineering tools to maximize reliability, performance, and efficiency while limiting costs and time to market.

Responsible for strategic end-to-end dimensioning, planning, and performance of the backup infra; development of optimization features and processes; capacity planning and recommendations; Systems Engineering and design Backup Infrastructure in-depth analysis (both fiscal and technical), evaluation and design of new features and technologies in the backup environment.

Develop and deploy backup technology software/automation, reporting and tools to meet internal customer and business requirements.

Work on evaluation and translation of requirements into design, evaluate design benefits and tradeoffs, validate design compliance, and support deployment of the design to ensure the requirements were met.

Evaluate, design & develop on perm and cloud-based data protection solutions.

Lead and deliver complex network & data protection designs. Recognize the implications of work and make recommendations for solutions.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on backup infrastructure especially Cohesity, Data Domain, Data Protection Advisor, Veritas OpsCenter, and NetBackup products.

Review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more effectively through industry perspectives.

Document systems designs, business requirements, and technical interpretation.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
Skill requirements:

(1) Designing and deploying data protection solutions, including Cohesity, Netbackup, and Data Domain.
-
(2) Utilizing Unix & Windows operating systems to perform backup and recovery operation on timely manner to ensure systems high availability.

(3) Using networking concepts including TCP IP, Firewalls, and routing to enable secure data transfer, load balancing and Network performance tuning to improve overall health of the infrastructure.

(4) Conducting scripting and automation to reduce the manual work on reoccurring tasks and to improve service of backup infrastructure.

(5) Understanding compliance, legal and auditory requirements and creating necessary procedures, controls and knowledge base to ensure environment is compliant.

(6) Using infrastructure and data security concepts including activity directory security groups, Datalock, and Splunk/syslog to integrate infrastructure with SSO, enable immutable backup data and deploy security best practices on backup IT infrastructure.
Experience and education requirements:
PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.
ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
