We are looking for a skilled and experienced telecommunications Installer who has an established career in the field. As a Systems Installer you will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

  • Install, test and troubleshoot communication cabling systems including copper and fiber optics.
  • Installation and service of intrusion alarms, access control and CCTV
  • Mechanical and fusion fiber optic splicing.
  • Running, pulling, terminating and splicing copper and fiber optic cables (CAT5, CAT6, coax, low voltage cables, telco, singlemode, multimode).
  • Work with specifications, drawings and plans
  • Work with a variety of trades on site.
  • Tracking materials, labour and equipment used on jobs.
  • Personal time and location reporting
  • Operate overhead lift equipment including boom lifts, scissor lifts and bucket trucks
  • Install and maintain outdoor communications systems including line/pole installations
  • Retrofit existing buildings to newer fiber technology

Technical Qualifications

  • Overall high level of experience in low voltage fiber and data installations.
  • Experience with specialized tools such as: OTDR, fiber splicer, Multi-meter, Data cable tester, and a variety of other testing equipment.
  • Familiar with systems similar to BOSCH, ICT, DSC & Avigilon alarm and access control systems.
  • Ability to work in MDU, MXU, and FTTH installations.
  • Experience with FOSC building and configuring is a benefit.
  • Install or maintain existing fire stopping in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations
  • Document network by labelling cables, and recording as built diagrams and specifications. This includes Fluke testing of installations.
  • Assist with other telecommunications including but not limited to, PBX installations, Video Conferencing, SIP, Hosted, Point to Point and wifi.
  • Mount telecommunication equipment, routers, switches etc. all while following industry standards, best practices and manufacturer requirements.
  • Building data and network racks

  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Meticulous record keeping skills
  • Must be able to tactfully and patiently interact with customers
  • Must have a clean class 5 drivers abstract
  • Experience driving vehicles with trailers
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
