Reporting to the RMWB Manager the Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing RFPs, estimates and quotations while also leading procurement, for all implementation deliverables for telecommunication, operational and cabling projects. The Estimator is responsible for creating the costing estimates required for the finalization of the quotations for work to the customer.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities
- Seek out new opportunities both within the current customer base and search for other outside opportunities
- Conduct project site surveys and site walkdowns to provide technical feedback to the customer/Engineering teams.
- Liaise between client and cross functional project team through all stages of project.
- Review project costs and forecast with stakeholders and coordinate Change Orders as required
- Identify and communicate any project scope changes such as cost and schedule.
- Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Manage and distribute the customer Stewardship reports keeping the management team informed about estimate statuses and communicate any issues or concerns that may impact client relations or resourcing.
- Work with the Accounting team to ensure all project costs are properly captured and supporting documentation is provided back in a timely manner.
- Prepare and labor requirements, material, and time requirements by gathering and studying proposals, engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and related documents (PSSP and HSE plans as required)
- Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements
- Resolve any discrepancies in scope by collecting and analyzing information
· Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team
· Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
- Follow-up with the customer on the status of the estimate/quote
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and/or reviewing technical publications
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Adhere to and enforce all HSE policies and procedures
- Maintain any professional designations in good standing
Skills and Knowledge
- Post-secondary education degree, and a minimum of 4-6 years’ of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated understanding of full-cycle project management
- Experience with Engineering activities, and various aspects of the telecommunication industry
- Experience in the design/installation and maintenance of ISP/OSP and telecommunication services
- Interpersonal – team approach
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite products with advanced knowledge of Excel
- Proven ability to work both independently and as a team
- Ability to analyze and make appropriate decisions; with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Commitment to continual improvement process
- Experience in working with Major Projects groups within the Oil and Gas sector.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
