On behalf of our client in the Telco Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Network Operations Technician.
Network Operations Technician – Job Description
-
Scope of work includes commissioning activities to support Field Operations network expansion including call testing, 5G acceptance, Inspections of new build and uplift projects, Cisco insertion, Microwave upgrades

Plan and implement work orders associated with the latest 5G projects, uplift and modernization, transport upgrades

In-depth knowledge of key quality service indicators on microwave and transmission equipment, optical fiber, TCP/IP.

Perform acceptance tests on newly installed sites and equipment to ensure results meet design specifications

Perform in-building walk testing and investigate/isolate UL RSSI interference issues
-
Administrative: reporting of mileage, timesheet, expenses, Site acceptance 1023
-
Shift work/overtime
-
Deal with difficult site access (seasonal) using off-road vehicles
Network Operations Technician – Mandatory Skills
-
Diploma/Certificate in Electronics from a technical institute or equivalent work experience
-
Travel is required 100% of the time within your own area (Eastern Ontario)
-
Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have a good driving record
-
Must have own vehicle (and will be reimbursed for mileage)
-
Ability to work shifts and overtime which may include evenings and weekends, based on a 40 hr work week

Demonstrated investigative, problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

Strong time and priority management

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Strong individual contributor and team player
Network Operations Technician – Nice to Have Skills
-
Technical background is an asset
-
Strong RF (Radio Frequency) and fiber background
-
Technical telecommunications experience supporting network elements would be an asset
-
Optical fiber, SONET OC3/12/48/192, knowledge of TCP/IP/ethernet would be an asset
-
Microwave and transmission experience would be beneficial e.g., DS1, DS3
