On behalf of our client in the Telco Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Network Operations Technician.

Network Operations Technician – Job Description

  • Scope of work includes commissioning activities to support Field Operations network expansion including call testing, 5G acceptance, Inspections of new build and uplift projects, Cisco insertion, Microwave upgrades

  • Plan and implement work orders associated with the latest 5G projects, uplift and modernization, transport upgrades

  • In-depth knowledge of key quality service indicators on microwave and transmission equipment, optical fiber, TCP/IP.

  • Perform acceptance tests on newly installed sites and equipment to ensure results meet design specifications

  • Perform in-building walk testing and investigate/isolate UL RSSI interference issues

  • Administrative: reporting of mileage, timesheet, expenses, Site acceptance 1023

  • Shift work/overtime

  • Deal with difficult site access (seasonal) using off-road vehicles

Network Operations Technician – Mandatory Skills

  • Diploma/Certificate in Electronics from a technical institute or equivalent work experience

  • Travel is required 100% of the time within your own area (Eastern Ontario)

  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have a good driving record

  • Must have own vehicle (and will be reimbursed for mileage)

  • Ability to work shifts and overtime which may include evenings and weekends, based on a 40 hr work week

  • Demonstrated investigative, problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Strong time and priority management

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong individual contributor and team player

Network Operations Technician – Nice to Have Skills

  • Technical background is an asset

  • Strong RF (Radio Frequency) and fiber background

  • Technical telecommunications experience supporting network elements would be an asset

  • Optical fiber, SONET OC3/12/48/192, knowledge of TCP/IP/ethernet would be an asset

  • Microwave and transmission experience would be beneficial e.g., DS1, DS3
