Job Summary:

The incumbent will work with a team of technicians who are responsible for the service assurance, performance, provisioning, and support of internal and external customer infrastructures. The incumbent will be based out of the Timmins office with potential to provide onsite work. Primary functions of the team are as follows:

  • Perform tier three support role(s) for internal and external server infrastructures
  • Assist in the planning and provisioning of solutions
  • Escalate non-resolved incidents to appropriate third-party support
  • Ensure the integrity of customer services
  • Adhere to corporate policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electronics, Data Communications, Telecommunications or 3-5 years equivalent work experience
  • Must possess relevant industry certifications
  • First-hand knowledge and experience of OSI model and IP environment
  • Valid Class G driver’s license is essential
  • Due to the extensive contact with external customers, good customer contact and communications skills are essential

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of most of the following operating systems/applications: Windows, Unix, Linux, Database, Thin Clients, Email Messaging, and Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, Citrix, and Microsoft)
  • Knowledge of most Transport Network Standards
  • A good understanding of the following: Routing, Switching, IP Security and their associated protocols and features
  • Experience with Server and PC based hardware
  • Powershell and Python experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Bilingualism is an asset


Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to take ownership of problems, to initiate and lead troubleshooting sessions involving clients and geographically dispersed teams
  • Autonomy and organization of work experience in project mode
  • Build and maintain an effective network of contacts both within and outside the company
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current on new technologies and processes
  • Provide tier three support to both internal & external customers on various technologies
  • Collaborate with various groups to ensure efficient resolution of incidents
  • Provides timely support, analysis, and resolution of software, network, and hardware related problems
  • Availability to travel as required
  • Availability to work off normal shifts
