Selrico Communications is currently seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer to join our dynamic Team. A successful Fiber Optic Splicer shall be experienced in installing, prepping and splicing Fiber Optic Cabling in ISP and OSP environments. A Fiber Optic Splicer shall possess four or more years of experience in fusion splicing, testing OTDR, power meters, and fiber optic terminations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installation of fiber optic cable in new and existing conduit.
• Terminate, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic networks.
• Will need to update and maintain fiber records throughout each project as well as complete weekly paperwork, such as time sheets and vehicle inspection reports.
• Will require significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding.
• Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Must ensure that both he/she and all employees under his/her supervision comply with proper safety standards/ procedures and work practices according to OSHA standards, Selrico Communications and/or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
• Must be able to work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and some weekend and holiday work may be required.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

• Experience with fusion splicing, testing OTDR, power meters, and fiber optic terminations.
• Pay Rate based on years of experience: 1-2 years: $12-$15, 3-4 years $16-19, 4-6 years $20-$24, 7+ years $24-$32
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA or NEC Standards.
• ETA/FOA (or equivalent) preferred.
• Technical Skills required: Theory (Telecom), advanced in specialized tools (OTDR, Power Meter, VFL, Fusion Splicer, PMD, CD, ORL), able to view and print traces, advanced spec knowledge, advanced in tool knowledge (Bender, Threader), proficient trouble shooting skills, and able to complete walk-through.
• Must have a clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of driving history with a valid license, per our auto insurance policy.

• Pre-employment drug screen, 7-year criminal background check, and clean motor vehicle record is mandatory.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
