Department Summary

Position Summary
The Broadcast Engineer position is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the production control room technology. We are looking for someone that will take a hands-on approach in collaborating directly with the production and editorial staff while serving as the EIC “Engineer in Charge”. You will be the first line of support for any technical issues during events while working effectively to ensure a smooth production.

Working Environment:
• Heavy lifting overhead, ascending, and descending stairs.
• Heights utilizing ladders, scaffolds, scissor lifts, and other above-ground locations.
• Prolonged physical labor, walking, bending, climbing, and stooping.
• Pulling and installing wiring.
• Working on small components.
• Use of hand and power tools.
Minimum Requirements
• Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and operation of radio and television broadcast regional-field and studio equipment.
An Associate’s degree in Electronic Technology from a recognized school may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
Professional Competencies
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical end users.
• Knowledge/ability to apply terminations/connectors to various types of network cables such as coaxial, twisted pair, and optical fiber cables that carry SDI video, AES and analog audio, RF, Fiber, and IP signals.
• Understanding of file-based multimedia technologies and video edit systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate the status of problems, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues.
• Familiarity with the following broadcast standards: SMPTE 2110, AES67, MXF, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, RS-422, RS-232, and Fiber.
Preferred Qualifications
• Five years of experience in broadcast television or athletic venue video production.
• Documentation skills including creating and maintaining a library of technical drawings and the ability to create and follow SOPs.
• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Broadcast or Computer Science or equivalent experience in the field.
• Professional network and broadcast certifications.
• CCENT, Network+ or higher. SBE certifications.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Professional operating experience with video switchers, audio consoles, replay, and graphics machines.
• Specific experience with Video Switchers, Replay Systems, Broadcast routing, and Graphic and Video playout systems.
