About The Team

The Fundamental Research Platform is a transversal functional team of sector specialists that serves the investment research needs of Active Equities, Alternatives and Private Asset Classes within PSP. Comprised of seasoned investment professionals, this team contributes the insight that comes from deep learning and experience in their respective fields. We are organized into four sector teams: Technology Media & Telecom (TMT), Industrials & Materials (IM), Consumer and Healthcare

About Your Role

As a Senior Manager/ Director, Global Equity Research, Technology, Media & Telecommunications you’ll:

Primary Responsibilities

Sector analysis & stock selection

• Assume coverage of Technology, Media & Telecommunications on a global basis
• Perform thematic research and timely regular sector reviews
• Identify investment opportunities in the selected industries for each equity strategy. Focus on prioritization of such opportunities, and allocation of both time and resources to convert opportunities into realized investments
• Establish a network of external resources (sell-side, consultants, experts)
• Develop relationships with management of investees and other companies of interest in the sector
• Prepare and present fulsome investment theses autonomously on selected stocks to portfolio managers
• Alongside TMT colleagues, participate in the preparation of financial models on stocks and provide relevant industry analysis. Ability to use judgement and creativity to build conviction on complex investment topics
• Select and maintain a high-conviction list of stocks with forecasted IRRs and scenario analysis
• Develop and maintain investment theses on individual stocks
• Contribute to the development of team members, both in the TMT team and the wider Active Equities team. Leverage subject matter expertise to both network and influence the relevant counterparties, both within Capital Markets and PSP overall

As required, provide expertise to the Alternatives Portfolio within CM as well as other PSP asset classes as requested

Investment & portfolio management

• Monitor the development of investee companies against their investment thesis
• Make recommendations on stock actions as risk reward profile changes

What You’ll Need

Education

• Graduate degree in a relevant field
• CFA designation is an asset

Experience

• At least eight years of relevant experience with a financial institution or fund manager
• In-depth knowledge of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications sector as well as industry trends and dynamics

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent judgment and discernment regarding investments, as well as initiative
• In-depth knowledge of finance and macroeconomics
• Ability to challenge his or her own ideas, to accept that these ideas will be challenged by others and to persuade his or her colleagues to strive for excellence
• Excellent organizational and priority management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Team player and strong coaching abilities
• Knowledge of foreign languages (an asset)

This position requires frequent travel.
