Position Details
The OSP Desktop Technician completes various engineering entry level desktop tasks to assist in OSP Engineering projects. The Technician takes direction from team lead and works closely with engineering personnel to create accurate engineering packages for permitting and construction.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive and review field data for accuracy and completeness
  • Take direction and complete internal training as needed to learn role and responsibilities
  • Have a base understanding of field survey and make ready solution as it relates to telecom
  • Understand OSP telecommunication engineering and construction terminology
  • Maintain orderly records and project documents
  • Create design deliverables that meet all local, state and federal codes and requirements
  • Process and create Make-Ready Engineering and Pole Loading Analysis deliverables according to standards and project requirements
  • Work within defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy
  • Participate in pole loading analysis using O-Calc, or other load calculation tool
  • Complete other desktop functions as directed by team lead/Project Manager
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree a plus.
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, applications, and web-based programs to complete field or desktop surveys and upload results daily
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated and a team player
  • Willing to seek out other assignments or tasks that need to be completed
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Comfort with Google Earth, GIS or other mapping applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Valid driver’s license
