OSP Design Manager

Description:

Harmonic is one of the Nations industry leaders when it comes to manufacturing Broadband and Video Streaming equipment. They are strongly known for their MSO support across companies such as Comcast and Cox, but also perform a ton of work for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cable providers as well. Not only does Harmonic manufacture the equipment, but they also have a very strong services arm that designs and deploys a lot their ISP equipment. This allows Harmonic to be very attractive to end clients as a “one stop shop”.

As Harmonic continues to grow their services arm, especially with the increased demand from clients to virtualize CMTS equipment, they are also building their OSP practice. The OSP practice currently outsources all of their OSP design to various vendors, and are looking to bring that practice in house to increase revenue and keep up with quality of demand.

The Design Manager will be responsible for managing all current/new design vendors, building/managing in house design team, establish standards, be able and open to performing design work themselves, as well as lead a team that will aim to leverage automation in design space (Algorithm knowledge would be a huge plus).

This role will be about 75% remote and prefer for them to sit on the East Coast. The other 25% will be local or mainly domestic travel to client sites. All travel expenses will be covered by Harmonic.

Need to have solid background across various design platforms such as Bentley, AutoCad, Spatialnet, GIS, etc.

Experience to keep contracting Design teams in check, and someone can also get into the trenches and do the design work themselves. HFC knowledge is not 100% needed, Optics and Fiber is more needed.
