Lead Technician Job Description

SUMMARY
The Lead Technician supervises small and medium projects, from the large-scale down to the details. The Lead Technician is responsible for providing on-site direction and leadership for workers in order to complete jobs within specific guidelines that include scope requirements, quality standards, time requirements, and budget requirements. They are responsible for management as well as technical production duties. On larger projects, the Lead Technician is responsible to lead crews completing productive tasks while working underneath and reporting to a Foreman.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all contract and project documents and details are reviewed, caught, followed and accounted for to minimize company risk.
  • Plans, manages and executes Projects in their charge.
  • Develop the Cable Run List and Cut Sheets.
  • Ensure that the quality of the installation is to the highest level.
  • Submit a Daily Report every day.
  • Updates Labor Production Daily in Labor Plan.
  • Manage Material

o Keep Site Material Inventory Updated Daily

o Coordinate material delivery to site with PC.

o Take delivery of materials on site and count all material to verify quantities are right before you sign-off on the material being delivered. You must ensure that the packing slip, Bill of Materials (BOM) and our internal PO match up for all material delivered.

o Provide packing slips to the Purchasing Manager. This can be done as a picture of the packing slip sent to the Purchasing Manager.

  • Conduct and submit a Toolbox Talk once per week and submit to General Foreman.
  • Manage all company tools and equipment with care and keep well maintained.
  • Train and mentor field staff in proper installation methods and best practices.
  • Identify needs for RFI’s and change orders.
  • Direct and monitor construction activities to ensure project is being built within scope, within code and standards, within schedule, within budget and within quality standards. Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform physical work personally.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Oversees the Safety Program and assures that all Safety Standards are being met and maintained.
  • Coordinate with customer and other trades to ensure all obstacles to our work is cleared and our job layout is not being interfered with by other trades equipment.
  • Ensure all inspections are passed the first time.
  • The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in similar low voltage construction, methods and equipment, tools and work procedures required.
  • Can be a combination of training, education and/or relevant work experience.
  • BICSI Technician Preferred

  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedure
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
  • Effective performance management skills
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and meet customer’s needs, expectations and requirements
  • Demonstrates expertise in commercial low voltage systems installation field management
  • Must be a self-starter and a problem solver
  • Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Familiarity with team-building techniques

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
