We are seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to join our team supporting Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Network and Telecommunications Services (NTS). The candidate will provide Telecommunications Installation and Support to assist with current NTS capabilities and to add capacity for DLA NTS to be more responsive to its customer. Candidate leads team in on-site management for daily Telecommunication Installation Support with commercially contracted resources due to an increasing demand for state-of-the-art technology services.

Responsibilities of Telecommunications Specialist

  • Performs daily telecom operations such as moves, adds, changes, daily maintenance, repairs, new installations, and testing.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves all types of telephone hardware and software problems.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and documents a wide variety of telecommunications circuits to include transport connections: SDH, SONET, WDM, OTN, MPLS, PDH, DSL, fiber, and copper lines.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and documents data connections (MPLS, IP, DCN, ATM, frame relay), voice connections (signal links, voice routes, voice core, access links, voice links for public address system), and video circuits (Cable Television, Closed Circuit Television, Video Teleconferencing, High Definition).
  • Maintenance of voicemail and phone profiles for any device connected to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager by utilizing the Cisco Prime Provisioning Collaboration Tool, UNIMAX Help One, and CAIRS (Configuration Accounting Information Retrieval System).
  • Manages delivery of IT and telecom equipment to various customers throughout designated location.
  • Assists in the development and management of project plans. This includes the review of task performance and work products for correctness, for adherence to design concepts and user requirements, and for progress in accordance with schedules.
  • Coordinates with the Vendor PM, COR, and Program point of contacts to ensure accurate solutions and user satisfaction on technical matters.

Qualifications of Telecommunications Specialist

  • 7 years of progressive IT experience
  • Experience in at least five telecommunications projects; one must have occurred within the past three years.
  • Education: None
  • Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) at time of proposal submission
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance throughout their coverage area and on installation
