Telecommunication Specialist – Full Time

Required Education and Experience: Associates Degree (or equivalent coursework) in communications or a related field. Siemens Unify Communications Platform Training. Three years experience in software design, installation and operation of telephone and telecommunications systems. Ability to plan and organize work, with attention to creativity and resourcefulness in problem solving. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work. Ability to make decisions recognizing established guidelines, precedents and practices. Must be able to work well with superiors and subordinates, and manage effectively through others. Understanding of VoIP Installation and Maintenance. Understanding of Telecommunications Servers and Applications.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Basic Understanding of Networking.

Essential Functions
Assists with installation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment with Telecommunications Coordinator and vendors representatives.

  • Maintains Repair and Moves Add or Change tickets .
  • Supports Telecommunications Coordinator on installations to meet deadlines.
  • Informs management of any unforeseen problems or delays.
  • Monitors equipment to detect potential problems and takes corrective action and notifies Telecom Coordinator. Trouble Shoots issues to the extent of his ability then ask for assistance in a timely manner
  • Follows up on installations/repair requests to ensure quality service.

Coordinates cabling projects.

  • Coordinates with Telecommunications Technician to ensure cabling projects are completed in a timely manner meeting all deadlines.
  • Assists Telecommunications Technician with large cabling projects as needed.
  • Identifies cabling/wiring problems and facilitates repairs.

Assists in troubleshooting and coordinates efficient maintenance and repairs of equipment as necessary.

  • Installs telecommunications equipment and software in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Repairs equipment and returns it to the customer the same day parts are available.
  • Use outside service or consulting when necessary.
  • Identifies personal abilities and limitations. Asks for assistance in situations that exceed abilities.
  • Provides training to educate customers and technical staff on the functions, capabilities and operation of telecommunication equipment upon request.

Performs software changes in the Clinic’s telephone system.

  • Develops and plans additions, changes, and relocation of telephone and telecommunications equipment.
  • Makes software moves and changes in the telephone switch as needed to accommodate personnel relocation or additions.
  • Acts as a backup switchboard operator for emergencies.

Maintain an inventory of all Clinic telephone equipment.

  • Ensures that all equipment is properly labeled.
  • Forwards inventory replacement requests to Telecommunications Coordinator as needed.

Coordinates with vendors for replacement parts and equipment under maintenance agreement or warranty
