POSITION SUMMARY
The NOC Engineer is responsible for strict monitoring of multiple networks and systems. They must maintain uptime for all IT systems. NOC Engineers proactively prevent or resolve any issues related to the servers, networks and telecommunications by consistently troubleshooting and monitoring.The Level I position is a shift work role that performs entry-level operational support tasks on existing systems under direct supervision. Provides support for the implementation and monitoring of new systems and technologies with a minimum level of complexity at Headquarters, Prineville Operations and Tire Center locations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform network related duties, including, but not limited to:
- Install and configure network infrastructure
- Monitoring network stability
- Troubleshoot and identify root cause and resolution
- Schedule and perform network maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks
- Various routine activities related to switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Assist other departments in troubleshooting problems, including client workstations, circuits, phones, server equipment and applications, etc.
- Assist in the implementation of new technologies and associated projects
- Report issues/concerns that affect the operational stability of any production system or environment to management
- Participates in on-call rotation, emergency meetings and actions to resolve major outages of server, networking, or telecom
- Complete other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree or 2-4 years experience in maintaining and supporting Network systems in an enterprise or service provider environment
Network or server/systems certification:
- Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) required, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred
- VMWare, Microsoft or Nutanix entry level certification
- IBM iSeries certification
- Basic understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP and services such as DNS and DHCP
- Either network or system specific skills:
Network:
- Basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills of network functions, including switching, routing and security
- Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto hardware
Systems:
- Basic system administration and troubleshooting skills for VMWare, Microsoft Server products, Nutanix
- Experience with AWS, Azure or OCI cloud environments a plus
- Experience with backup methodologies and systems including Rubrik and/or iSeries BRMS
- Experience in monitoring tools and IT Service Management tools
